Job Description

Join our team as VP of Program Management & Chief of Staff to the President of R&D. Lead program management for preclinical and clinical projects, drive strategic initiatives, manage key projects, and enhance communication and collaboration across R&D. Serve as an advisor, streamline operations, optimize processes, and advance critical portfolio programs. Facilitate timely decisions and contribute to overall project and portfolio strategy.


Chief of Staff:

  • Provide high-level support to the President, R&D in setting and driving strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate on meeting preparation and key message crafting for the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Act as a liaison between the President and other Executive Committee members for seamless communication and alignment.
  • Facilitate the Drug Development Leadership Team, chaired by the President, R&D.
  • Advise, support, and coordinate on strategic and complex projects on behalf of the President, R&D.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the President, R&D, and serve as proxy when needed.
  • Oversee special studies and provide ongoing analysis, including financial and operational dashboards.
  • Write critical and time-sensitive correspondence, including speaking points, letters, and presentations.
  • Ensure budgets are developed, reviewed, and approved.
  • Support talent management and development initiatives within the R&D organization.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts to attract and retain top talent.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency within the R&D division.
  • Implement best practices and tools to enhance productivity, resource allocation, and decision-making processes.
  • Ensure organizational alignment and oversee program execution.

Program Management:

  • Lead and oversee strategic projects and cross-functional initiatives within R&D.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and milestones, coordinating with stakeholders.
  • Monitor project status, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee the Program Management group.
  • Foster team-building and collaboration.
  • Support Program Leads in developing strategies from Discovery through registration.
  • Plan and track lead optimization, pharmacology, toxicology, ADME studies, drug supply, formulation development, and clinical planning.
  • Collaborate with clinical development teams on integrated development plans.
  • Coordinate with technical operations, clinical operations, safety, regulatory, and commercial teams.
  • Ensure organizational alignment of drug discovery and development plans.
  • Contribute to Board of Director presentations.
  • Represent the program team with leadership and directors.
  • Support portfolio management and decision making.
  • Ensure uniformity in program documentation.
  • Identify, track, and resolve program-related issues.
  • Develop and maintain program management best practices and tools.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Skills

  • 15+ years in biotech/pharmaceuticals with 7+ years in program management.
  • 5+ years collaborating with cross-functional leaders.
  • Led oncology programs from early to late clinical stages.
  • Strong scientific background; MS/PhD preferred.
  • Required oncology experience.
  • Expertise in Portfolio Management, Strategic Planning, Risk Management.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in project management tools.
  • Ability to make efficient decisions and prioritize effectively.
