Responsibilities
Strategy Development & Execution
- Develop and implement robust market access strategies encompassing pricing, payer engagement, value-based agreements, and reimbursement initiatives tailored to rare and ultra-rare disease areas.
- Drive the creation of compelling value propositions and health economic models to support payer negotiations and policy advocacy.
- Ensure market access plans are fully aligned with broader commercial and corporate goals.
Payer & Channel Engagement
- Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with public and private payers, PBMs, specialty pharmacies, and integrated delivery networks.
- Lead and support negotiations with payers to secure favorable formulary placement and coverage decisions.
- Partner with field reimbursement teams to proactively identify and address patient access challenges.
- Oversee product trade, distribution, and channel strategies.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate closely with Medical Affairs, Commercial, Regulatory, and Patient Services teams to design and execute integrated strategies that demonstrate clinical, economic, and patient-centered value.
- Contribute to launch planning and life cycle management for current and pipeline products.
- Direct the development of core value dossiers, AMCP dossiers, and other materials that facilitate payer and policy discussions.
Evidence Generation & Policy Advocacy
- Partner with HEOR and clinical teams to design and deliver evidence generation plans, including real-world evidence and outcomes research to support rare disease access.
- Stay abreast of, and help shape, policy developments impacting rare and orphan drug reimbursement through engagement with CMS, advocacy organizations, and industry coalitions.
Required Skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PharmD, or related field) strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive market access experience in the biopharma industry, including at least 5 years in leadership roles.
- Proven track record of launching and securing access for rare or orphan therapies is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of the U.S. payer landscape, reimbursement processes (Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial plans), and healthcare policy.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and executive presentation skills.
