Job Description

Korro Bio is seeking a creative, self-motivated, collaborative oligonucleotide designer at the senior scientist level to join our chemistry organization. Key contributions for this dry-lab position include collaborating closely with chemists, biologists, and data scientists to advance oligonucleotide design and streamline processes. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary chemistry team at a growing biotech company at the cutting edge of RNA biology research and will contribute positively to its developing culture. The role will include the potential for significant career growth. This position reports to the Head of Oligonucleotide Design and will be based in our Cambridge and Woburn, MA locations.


  • Work closely with teams of chemists, data scientists, and biologists to design panels of oligonucleotide drugs to execute on company goals
  • Critically examine publicly available literature and internal datasets to generate testable hypotheses, initiate oligonucleotide designs, and form sound conclusions from resulting data
  • Manage priorities against company goals with input from company stakeholders
  • Collaborate on project teams and clearly articulate to team members how designs will advance company goals and communicate precisely around timing of data delivery
  • Track and clearly communicate the status of oligonucleotide designs to teams and stakeholders within the organization
  • Work with data scientists on the development of tools that aid in the visualization, design, and data presentation of oligonucleotide drug molecules
  • Present regular updates to teams across the company

Required Skills

  • MS or Ph.D. degree in a scientific field coupled with relevant chemistry or informatics experience
  • Must be highly proficient with data and metadata manipulation in databases such as MS Excel and Smartsheets, and be familiar with cheminformatic syntaxes such as HELM that describe oligonucleotide structures
  • A working knowledge of programming languages such as Python and/or R and navigating Linux environments / servers (including cloud / AWS) and structured data (e.g. using SQL) is preferred
  • Adept at creating and giving effective and stimulating presentations
  • Ability to present concepts and data to varied audiences that help drive decision-making
  • Excellent organizational skills, effective manager of tasks and projects
