Job Description

The Senior Manager, Clinical Business Analytics plays a key role in managing clinical trial planning across various projects and studies. This role involves expertise in clinical trial financial models, including forecasting, resource allocation, and budget management. Working under the leadership of an associate director, the position requires a balance of strategic planning and operational execution. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Responsibilities

  • Designs algorithms using historical data to forecast future clinical trial costs.
  • Provides analysis of cost metrics to identify trends and insights.
  • Establishes benchmarks for estimating clinical trial costs at a high level.
  • Collaborates with operational teams to assess the budget impact of protocol changes.
  • Proficient in using software to build and interpret clinical trial cost models.
  • Analyzes vendor proposals and bids, comparing them to established benchmarks for informed decision-making.
  • Supports vendor selection by evaluating spending and bid comparisons, developing financial models as needed.
  • Reviews new vendor proposals and contract modifications to assess budget impact and alignment with past agreements.
  • Understands the cost implications of new sourcing strategies and operational changes.
  • Works cross-functionally with various teams to deliver financial analyses and support cost-saving initiatives.
  • Synthesizes information from multiple sources to identify key trends and communicate findings to leadership.
  • Compiles historical cost data to build a comprehensive budget database for clinical trials.
  • Supports financial planning by modeling various scenarios using industry tools and software.
  • Develops reports and monitors key metrics related to financial analysis and budgets.
  • Applies best practices and external benchmarking to drive continuous improvement aligned with strategic goals.
  • Assists with vendor oversight, contract management, and related governance activities.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Background in biotech, life sciences, finance, or clinical research settings.
  • Strong knowledge of the drug development process, including Phase 1-4 clinical trials.
  • Proficiency with financial modeling tools used in clinical trials (e.g., budgeting and forecasting software).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and tools for creating visual presentations (e.g., Gantt charts, flowcharts).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present effectively.
  • Proven organizational and project management skills, capable of handling multiple priorities.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder communication.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information to support informed decision-making.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong multitasking abilities in a dynamic environment.
  • Self-driven, with the capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective time management skills with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
