Job Title: Scientist/Sr. Scientist, Oligonucleotide Chemistry
Job Number: 89534
Location: , US
Job Description
Seeking a Scientist/Senior Scientist with expertise in RNA synthesis and enzymatic ligation. Experience with solid-phase synthesis using automated synthesizers, cleavage, deprotection, and HPLC purification is highly desired. The role involves producing multiple guide RNA sequences in parallel to support internal and collaborative programs and contributing to scalable RNA innovations suitable for GMP manufacturing. The ideal candidate will work independently, potentially mentor junior team members, and collaborate across functions to advance programs toward clinical development. Strong work ethic, accountability, and teamwork are essential.
Responsibilities
* Plan and execute RNA synthesis using automated synthesizers and phosphoramidite chemistry. * Perform parallel cleavage, deprotection, and purification of guide RNAs using established procedures. * Collaborate with analytics teams for crude/fraction analysis and guide measurement. * Learn and apply enzymatic ligation processes for long RNA production. * Deliver high-quality guides efficiently in a fast-paced environment. * Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to junior team members. * Operate and maintain lab instruments, including synthesizers, purifiers, and analytical equipment. * Communicate effectively and plan experiments with input from cross-functional teams. * Ensure safe and efficient lab practices while maintaining detailed experimental records. * Present findings in internal meetings and contribute to technical reporting. * Thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving work environment while meeting ambitious timelines.
Required Skills
* PhD in Chemistry or related field (0-3+ years) or BS/MS with 3-6+ years of relevant industry experience. * Experience with solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis using automated synthesizers is required. * Preferred experience in high-throughput synthesis, cleavage, deprotection, and purification techniques. * Familiarity with analytical methods such as UPLC, LC-MS, and UV-Vis is a plus. * Ability to mentor and guide junior chemists in the lab. * Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven with strong project ownership. * Effective collaborator with cross-functional teams and external partners. * Organized, detail-oriented, curious, and committed to continuous learning.
