Job Description

We are hiring a Senior Scientist to join and be a key contributor on our multi-disciplinary genomics team. The genomics team is tasked with both identifying viral technologies for use in our cutting-edge gene therapy platform as well as characterizing host and viral interactions utilizing multi’omic sequencing- based approaches. The candidate will lead the genomics discovery platform and be tasked with developing and optimizing DNA and RNA sequencing assays to unlock and enhance NGS viral vectors. We are searching for candidates who have worked with diverse Next Generation Sequencing instruments being applied to viral genomics or metagenomics to identify and recover low biomass targets. Candidates will also be tasked with leveraging sequencing assays cross-functionally across the organization to provide critical insights and enable data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

– Lead DNA-sequencing for discovery platform. – Develop and optimize sequencing-based assays to provide analytical read-outs to platform development teams. – Develop, optimize and apply new and novel genomic assays that aim to provide actionable insights about biology and host – virus interactions. – Create innovative data visualizations and communicate complex results to interdisciplinary and diverse stakeholders, working to direction via data-driven decisions. – Serve as a technical and people leader within the Genomics team and across the organization. – Directly manage, develop and grow reports to accomplish tasked projects and goals. – Work in a highly dynamic startup environment with an interdisciplinary team.

Required Skills

– PhD or MS with multiple years industry experience or equivalent in genomics, or related fields and minimum two years’ experience working in an industry setting. – Strong experience with Illumina instruments and the Illumina sequence platform. – Familiarity with long-read sequencing techniques and experience with Oxford Nanopore or PacBio platforms. – Strong experience troubleshooting and optimizing NGS assays – Experience analyzing and interpreting NGS QC metrics and related data. – Established track record working with highly skilled, diverse teams in an industry environment. – Demonstrated industry experience or academic achievement, as evidenced by publications in high impact journals and conference proceeding or contributions to therapeutics that earned DCN or IND status.
