Job Description

As a Senior Scientist specializing in Oligonucleotide Chemistry, you will play a pivotal role in advancing mRNA-based therapeutic programs. Leveraging your expertise in oligonucleotide chemistry, synthesis, purification, scale-up, and post-synthetic bioconjugation, you will contribute to the development of cutting-edge mRNA therapeutics that have the potential to transform patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement innovative strategies for the synthesis, purification, and scale-up of oligonucleotides, with a focus on mRNA-based therapeutics. 
  • Utilize hands-on experience to optimize synthetic routes, purification methods, and bioconjugation protocols for the efficient production of mRNA constructs. 
  • Lead the development and application of Click Chemistry and other bioconjugation techniques for site-specific modification of mRNA molecules.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate oligonucleotide chemistry into the design and optimization of mRNA constructs.
  • Conduct analytical characterization of mRNA constructs using HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, and other spectroscopic methods.
  • Mentor junior scientists, providing technical guidance and expertise in oligonucleotide chemistry, mRNA-based therapeutics, and bioconjugation.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in oligonucleotide chemistry, mRNA technology, and bioconjugation, incorporating relevant innovations into research activities.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field with a specialization in oligonucleotide chemistry.
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, scale-up, and post-synthetic bioconjugation, preferably in an industrial setting. 
  • Proficiency in mRNA-based therapeutics and a strong understanding of mRNA biology and technology. 
  • Expertise in Click Chemistry and other bioconjugation techniques, with demonstrated experience in mRNA modification and optimization.
  • Proficient in analytical techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, and spectroscopic methods for mRNA characterization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to optimize synthetic routes, purification methods, and bioconjugation protocols. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with demonstrated leadership abilities in project management and mentoring.
