Job Description

Korro Bio is seeking a motivated and collaborative medicinal chemist to work as a Scientist within the chemistry team. Key contributions to this position include designing and executing chemistry experiments, performing analysis of reaction products using modern techniques, and communicating results to varied audiences within the company. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary chemistry team at a growing biotech company at the cutting edge of RNA biology research and will contribute positively to its developing culture. The role will include the potential for significant career growth. This position reports to the Director of oligonucleotide medicinal chemistry and will be based in our Cambridge and Woburn, MA locations.  

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and execute multi-step organic syntheses, purifications, and QC of small molecules such as nucleoside derivatives
  • Suggest synthetic routes for, and manage the outsourcing of small molecule raw materials such as phosphoramidites, targeting ligands, peptides, and linkers
  • Generate new and creative approaches to problem-solving
  • Ensure timely data capture and storage in ELN
  • Provide clear written and verbal updates to project teams and management
  • Serve as chemistry lead on cross-functional project teams
  • Support intellectual property filings with timely execution of studies and experimental write-ups

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry or a related discipline, and 0-3 years of relevant experience in industry or academia
  • A strong background in synthetic chemistry, p SAR analysis
  • Preferred experience with nucleoside/nucleotide chemistry, and oligonucleotide synthesis
  • Experience with bioconjugation methods, including purification, and characterization
  • Oligonucleotide synthesis experience using automated DNA/RNA synthesizers is a plus
  • Demonstrable strong publication and/or patent track record of scientific excellence in the design and synthesis of bioactive compounds
  • Working knowledge of RNA biology and oligonucleotide drug discovery activities
  • Experience managing direct reports and CRO resources
  • Possesses exemplary written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate ideas
  • Proficient with SciFinder, ChemDraw, and other medicinal chemistry-related software
