Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and growth-oriented Scientist/Senior Scientist to play an integral role with our biology team and help us develop the new frontiers in genetic medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping to develop Judo’s proprietary next-gen oligonucleotide delivery platform with a key focus on screening technologies and building our pipeline. They will also play a crucial role in leading projects and mentoring scientists development, characterization and implementation of platform biology and implementing models for evaluation of potential therapeutics. This position requires hands-on research lab experience including relevant cell culture systems and molecular biology methods coupled with a desire to learn and apply new experimental methodologies. Drive to execute, experimental rigor and scientific curiosity are key! We are a small and growing company, so the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving priorities is a must. Full time in-person work is necessary for this laboratory-based position. We work in facilities that require that all individuals working on-site are vaccinated for COVID-19 and may at times require masking.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategy and scientific approach to understand and develop the delivery of oligonucleotide-based therapies
- Establish in vitro assays to evaluate efficacy, dose response relationships and characterize molecules for potential therapeutic effects via techniques including: noanalysis, and general molecular biology
- Responsible for operation and maintenance of the high-throughput screening platform while supporting the definition and troubleshooting of methods on the high throughput robot/liquid handler
- Initiate and manage research collaborations to further the applications of in vitro models
- Work closely with a team of biologists while providing guidance and mentorship to junior scientists
- Prepare, review and deliver high quality scientific presentations for internal and external teams
- In a well-organized manner, document and analyze scientific data, analyze using statistical methods, and clearly communicate your results to the larger team
- Commit to helping the team achieve deliverables and meet timelines
- Establish strong scientific excellence and foster an open culture of challenging assumptions, open scientific exchange, and deep scientific rigor
Required Skills
- Ph.D. scientist in cell or molecular biology, genetics, or a closely related discipline plus at least 2 years of industry experience with a proven track record of scientific excellence and creativity
- Extensive hands-on research laboratory experience is required, with preference to candidates with experience in oligonucleotide research
- Deep understanding and experience in diverse in vitro assay development to support lead discovery, target validation and optimization; in particular, various cell culture, cell/molecular biology and biochemistry techniques and 3D cell models, iPSCs and organoid handling is preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills
- A track record of innovation and scientific rigor as evidenced by a strong publication record
- Working both independently and as part of a team are required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment
- Excellent organization skills, time management, and the ability to communicate in a clear and effective manner
