Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Drug Discovery, the candidate will be responsible for the synthesis and characterization of small molecules that bind RNA. He/She will integrate a broad understanding of synthetic organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry with the goal of developing probe molecules for a pharmacological target of interest. This is a direct laboratory position based in our Jupiter, Florida research site.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute syntheses of complex organic molecules on a milligram to multi-gram scale
  • Design and synthesize molecules with druglike properties, using knowledge of SAR, ADME, PK, and in-silico and in-vitro predictors for multiparameter optimization.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for leadership and participate in internal/external meetings
  • Operate medicinal chemistry tools and techniques to plan and design synthetic targets
  • Utilize modelling software to facilitate structure-based drug design (SBDD) efforts.
  • Perform rapid and critical hit-to-lead evaluation of chemical matter identified through HTS, DEL, and fragment screens.
  • Integrate collaborative chemistry team to synthesize new analogs and probe compounds for discovery projects
  • Support the advancement of lead compounds through in-vitro and in-vivo evaluation to identify clinical development candidates.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage research activities conducted at CROs.
  • Apply standard laboratory techniques to purify compounds with state-of-the-art techniques to characterize intermediates and final compounds
