Job Description

The Scientist II/Senior Scientist in the Gene Therapy Research Team is crucial for developing next-generation AAV-based gene therapies for metabolic diseases. Responsibilities include contributing to lead programs by designing, screening, and characterizing genetic constructs, as well as developing disease models and bioanalytical assays. This position requires driving programs forward collaboratively with internal teams, external partners, and CROs to achieve program goals effectively and on time.


  • Contribute to characterizing lead gene therapy programs and pioneer new ones in the pipeline.
  • Design and optimize genetic constructs for maximum therapeutic effect.
  • Perform in vitro screening and molecular assays for specificity, activity, and safety.
  • Support bioanalysis and prepare technical reports and protocols.
  • Maintain comprehensive lab documentation and bring new technologies to support gene therapy.
  • Mentor junior scientists and ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.

Required Skills

  • PhD in Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
  • 3-5+ years post-PhD experience in academia or industry, preferably in biotech or pharmaceuticals.
  • Management or mentorship experience preferred.
  • Extensive experience in mammalian cell culture, DNA transfection, and viral transduction, especially AAV.
  • Expertise in DNA construct design using software like Benchling or Snapgene.
  • Proficiency in molecular assays, molecular cloning, PCR, flow cytometry, Western blotting, ELISAs, and bioassays.
  • Familiarity with metabolic diseases preferred.
  • Experience with animal models and IND/CTA progress desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism.
  • Limited travel (<5%) may be required.
