Job Description
We are looking for a highly skilled Synthetic Organic Chemist with hands-on experience on nucleoside/nucleotide, heterocyclic chemistry and lipid chemistry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in organic synthesis, with a particular emphasis on drug design and synthesis, drug delivery principles, and biochemical evaluation. Experience in multi-step synthesis, purification, characterization is highly desirable. This role involves designing and executing complex synthetic routes, optimizing reaction conditions, and analyzing and characterizing chemical compounds to support our research and development efforts.
Responsibilities
- Design and synthesize biomolecules and heterocyclic compounds for various research projects.
- Develop and optimize synthetic routes and methodologies for chiral pure molecules for their biological validation.
- Analyze and characterize compounds using techniques such as NMR, MS, HPLC, and other analytical methods.
- Troubleshoot and resolve synthetic challenges, ensuring high purity and yield of target compounds.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate synthetic chemistry efforts with broader research objectives.
- Document experimental procedures, results, and interpretations in a clear and organized manner.
- Stay up to date with advancements in synthetic chemistry and bioorganic research, incorporating new techniques and methodologies as appropriate.
- Adhere to safety protocols and best practices in the laboratory.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Bioorganic Chemistry, or a related field, with a focus on synthetic chemistry.
- Minimum of 2-3 years industry for Scientist II or 4-6 years industry for Senior Scientist, postdoctoral experience will be considered.
- Proven hands-on experience with synthetic organic chemistry and heterocyclic chemistry.
- Must have small molecule experience.
- Demonstrated experience in bioconjugation of the synthetic molecule is a strong plus.
- Proficiency in modern analytical techniques (e.g., NMR, MS, HPLC) and interpretation of data.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively.
- A track record of publication or presentation in relevant scientific areas is
desirable.
