Job Description

We are looking for a versatile research informatics scientist to support the growth and maintenance of our revolutionary synthetic lethality informatics and small molecule drug discovery platforms. By implementing commercial systems, writing custom applications, leveraging cloud infrastructure, partnering with our scientists and external software developers to solve informatics problems, you will have the opportunity to impact our science and expand our drug discovery capabilities.


  • You will collaborate with experienced biologists, chemists, software engineers, and computational biologists to support and improve our existing research informatics solutions for drug discovery
  • Build, integrate, and support custom cheminformatics and drug discovery tools
  • Be a primary point of contact between Tango scientists and vendors to identify appropriate solutions to support drug discovery data analysis and management
  • Develop and promote best practices for scientific data capture and analysis
  • Provide training and assistance to users
  • Strive to continuously improve our informatics platform by identifying unmet needs and implementing creative solutions

Required Skills

  • B.S., M.S in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Chemistry, Engineering, Biology, or a related scientific discipline
  • Experience with software development concepts
  • Experience querying and modifying relational database systems (especially Oracle SQL)
  • Excellent communication skills, and a willingness to work with people from diverse scientific and non-scientific backgrounds
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized thinker and doer, able to prioritize tasks and challenges
  • Highly collaborative and enthusiastic team player

Highly preferred

  • Data analysis and visualization background and interest in drug discovery
  • Cheminformatics experience
  • Experience with Linux systems and cloud infrastructure especially Amazon Web Services
  • Understanding of drug discovery workflows and the data that is generated
  • Experience configuring and administering drug discovery database systems and query tools (e.g. Dotmatics Browser and Vortex)
  • Relevant work experience in pharma/biotech (or equivalent)
