Job Description

The Walczak group at the University of Colorado Boulder is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician with a strong background in organic chemistry and synthesis to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in advancing our research efforts by performing complex organic syntheses, characterizing new compounds, and supporting the day-to-day operations of our laboratory.

 

Key Responsibilities:

–          Carry out multistep organic syntheses, including the purification and characterization of intermediates and final products.

–          Maintain accurate and up-to-date laboratory records, including experimental procedures, data, and observations.

–          Utilize various analytical techniques such as NMR, MS, and HPLC to characterize synthesized compounds.

–          Assist with the preparation of research reports, publications, and presentations.

–          Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized laboratory environment.

–          Collaborate with other team members and contribute to ongoing research projects.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

–          Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related discipline.

–          Demonstrated experience in organic synthesis and compound purification techniques.

–          Proficient in the use of analytical instruments such as NMR and LC/MS.

–          Strong organizational skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

–          Meticulous attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.

–          Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

–          Prior experience in a research laboratory setting, particularly in the field of synthetic organic chemistry.

–          Familiarity with modern synthetic methodologies and reaction mechanisms.

–          Experience with air-sensitive and moisture-sensitive techniques.

 

Salary:

Remuneration for this position will be in line with the University of Colorado’s compensation guidelines and will reflect the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
