Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
Assists with pre-clinical animal model experiments, tissue, and bio sample processing.
Performs molecular biology techniques including western blotting, ELISA, PCR, qPCR, sterile tissue culture, DNA/RNA isolation, etc.
Assists with management of mouse colonies.
Prepares, orders, and maintains reagent, solution, and supply inventories.
Reports data in oral and written formats.
Documents, compiles, and analyzes experimental data
Assists with supply ordering, including coordination with campus-wide core facilities.
Ensures the maintenance of a safe laboratory environment, including a clean, organized workspace, chemical records, and biological inventories.
Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
Performs other duties as assigned.
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators.
Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.
Bachelor’s degree and up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling four years.
$16.59 – $25.92 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
