Position Description
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) invites applications for the position of Research Technician in the laboratories of Dr. John Moses, Dr. Scott Lyons, and Dr. Michael Lukey.
 
The selected applicant will join a collaborative team of cancer biology researchers, developing new compounds to probe and treat cancers that currently lack targeted therapies. We aim to understand the mechanisms by which these molecules exert their anticancer activity, and then apply this knowledge to enhance the potency and selectivity of drug candidates to maximize their therapeutic effect.
 

Position Responsibilities
The position will be based in a newly renovated state-of-the-art laboratory, housing a broader group of researchers studying diverse aspects of cancer biology. Our lab is developing several cancer-targeting strategies for the development of new therapeutics. The Moses / Lyons Labs also engages in several close collaborations with other research groups at the Cancer Center. Group members enjoy the highly intellectual and collaborative interactions at CSHL. The Research Technician will have the ability to grow as a part of this team, and to make important contributions to impactful research projects. This position is a one-year appointment, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs.
 
Research tasks include cell culture, biochemical assays, protein synthesis, and purification. Training and mentoring will be available.

Position Requirements
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related discipline is required.
Experience: Experience in mammalian cell culture, biochemical assays is required, whilst experience in protein synthesis and purification, and mouse handling is beneficial. Work may involve the use of mouse models of disease, and willingness to handle animals is therefore essential. Comprehensive skills in data handling and excellent record keeping are equally important.
Skills: Must be organized, happy to problem solve, and team oriented.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
