Position Description
The dos Santos group at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is accepting applications for a Research Technician levels I or II, to support the investigation of the normal and malignant mammary gland development, utilizing an array of in vivo, single cell and bulk genomic approaches.
The dos Santos lab promotes and supports a safe and inclusive environment for the advancement of trainees of all races, ethnicities, abilities and identities. Our interdisciplinary research team has extensive expertise on normal mammary gland development, mouse models of breast cancer, bioinformatics, single cell analysis, and murine- and human-derived breast organoids. We offer opportunities for all lab members to develop writing skills, scientific outreach, and mentorship of high school and undergraduate students. From a scientific perspective, we emphasize the conduct of innovative, rigorous and reproducible research.
Position Responsibilities
• Work under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) on research projects, supporting experiments and basic data analysis.
• Contribute to lab organizational matters such as ordering supplies, maintaining stocks and overseeing equipment
• Mice genotyping
• Monitoring of tumor growth
• Dissociation of mouse tissues and tumor
Position Requirements
Education: BS or associated degree in related area of Science (microbiology, molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, immunology or related field).
Experience/Skills: Hands-on training in basic DNA manipulation such as restriction digests, ligations, PCRs and maxi-preps. Hands-on training in basic tissue culture. Strong communication, organization and record keeping skills.
