Dr. Kate Alexander’s group at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is centered on uncovering the fundamentals of gene regulation as mediated by nuclear speckles, a prominent, yet enigmatic substructure within the cell nucleus. As a Research Technician, you will perform a variety of wet lab and administrative tasks, working directly with the Principal Investigator to set up the lab and streamline new research directions.
Position Responsibilities
Lab Setup: Ensure efficient setup of laboratory equipment, instruments, and materials for ongoing and new research projects. Maintain detailed records of incoming materials and organize supplies.
Lab Operations: Manage inventory of reagents and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage conditions.
Experiments: Conduct proof-of-principle experiments to generate preliminary data for new project directions. Collaborate with Principal Investigator (PI) and other lab members on experimental setups and data collection.
Lab Culture: Actively contribute to promoting a positive and collaborative lab culture. Support teamwork, knowledge-sharing, and a supportive environment among colleagues.
Position Requirements
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology or related discipline.
Skills and experience: Prior exposure to a research lab is preferred. Working knowledge of molecular biology and biochemistry-related techniques such as pipetting. A commitment to work in this position for a minimum of 2 years.

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
