Job Number: 57183
Location: Pittsburgh, PA, US
Job Description
Join our R01-funded, creative laboratory team in the Division of Pulmonary Medicine in the laboratory of Corrine Kliment, MD, Ph.D. We are seeking a highly self-motivated candidate with a strong background in mitochondrial metabolism, epithelial biology, molecular biology, or a related field. Skills and experience in investigating aspects of epithelial cell function, mitochondrial biology, confocal microscopy, and mouse models of lung disease are strongly encouraged. The candidate will be expected to plan, execute and analyze experiments spanning from primary human cell culture to animal studies. The successful candidate will study how mitochondrial proteins, specifically adenine nucleotide translocase or ANT, regulate epithelial function in models of lung disease including chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD) with a focus on cellular senescence pathways. The project will initially focus on the establishment of in vitro primary cell culture models (3D organoids and precision-cut lung slices) and the use of in vivo mouse models of COPD that have been previously established.
Successful applicants will hold a Ph.D., MD, or MD/Ph.D. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
