Job Description

We seeks a motivated, flexible, highly productive Research Associate with diverse skills and experience in molecular biology, cell biology and biochemistry, who can work in a fast-paced biotech startup environment. This person will report to the Director of Biology and mRNA Platform Development.

Responsibilities

The Research Associate is expected to work hands-on with the team at various stages of projects and maintain the laboratory space. Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Maintain and subculture mammalian cell culture

• Perform various biological and biochemical assays to answer critical scientific questions and advance the discovery and preclinical development programs (cell transfection, protein samples preparation, western blot analysis, RNAs purification from cells, RT-PCR, ELISA, cell imaging, etc.)

• Assist with the writing and validation of the company’s Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs)

• Manage laboratory space, supplies stock, and MSDS information

• Maintain high standards of laboratory safety, comply with the safety regulation and complete required trainings 

Required Skills

• BS (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, or related science) 

• 0-2 years of hands-on laboratory experience

• Hands on experience with mammalian cell culture and basic biological/biochemical assays (RT-PCR, Western Blot, RNA/DNA purification, gel electrophoresis, etc.)

• Experience working with BSL2 agents (cancer cell lines, etc.) is a plus

• Excellent collaboration, organizational, communication (oral/written) skills and ability to work in a quickly changing startup environment
