Job Description

The Hatzios Lab at Yale University is current seeking a full-time Research Assistant. 

Our lab is part of the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology, Department of Chemistry, and the Microbial Sciences Institute at Yale University. We use chemical and biological tools to study enzymes and other proteins that shape host–microbe dynamics in gastrointestinal infections.

This position will oversee the management of the laboratory’s mouse colonies and assist in the daily operations and laboratory procedures performed in the laboratory. 

Essential duties for this position include but are not limited to:

1)    Managing mouse research colonies.

2)    Maintaining laboratory inventory of supplies, reagents, and equipment. 

3)    Maintaining laboratory compliance with biological and chemical safety regulations.

4)    Assisting with molecular biology and biochemistry techniques related to laboratory research projects.

5)    Interacting with various departments as a lab contact person.

Applicants should have prior experience with mouse handling and colony management, be proficient in standard molecular biology and bacterial cultivation techniques, and possess excellent communication skills.
