Job Description

We are seeking a motivated automation/cell-based assay scientist to be an integral member of the Screening and Biochemistry group within Discovery Bioscience. The individual will be responsible for setting up automation and working with teammates across different departments to help design and implement automated workflows. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for running routine cell-based assays to support SAR campaigns and develop new assays to support the growing pipeline. The individual must be a team player and be able to collaborate seamlessly across different groups. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, hard-working, creative, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment to achieve tight timelines.


  • Work closely with Discovery Bioscience team members to understand current workflows and make suggestions/designs for automating processes
  • Lead the evaluation, sourcing, and implementation of automation equipment. Maintain equipment and train team members
  • Proactively evaluate new technologies and implement new features and functionalities into the company’s screening platform
  • Design, develop, and run robust cellular reporter and functional assays for screening

Required Skills

  • BS/MS in biology, biochemistry, or related field
  • 5+ years post-degree experience required
  • Experience with automation and building automated workflows
  • Experience developing plate-based biochemical and cellular reporter and functional assays for screening
  • Broad experience with assay technologies (e.g. FP, TR-FRET, AlphaScreen, MSD, NanoBRET)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a can-do attitude, and desire to thrive in a dynamic, goal- and performance-oriented team environment
