The laboratory of Dr. Naoto T. Ueno at the University of Hawaii Cancer Center (UHCC), Honolulu, Hawaii, is seeking a motivated and talented postdoctoral fellow to join our multidisciplinary team. This is a NIH-funded postdoctoral fellowship position.
Our lab focuses on understanding the aggressiveness of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and inflammatory breast cancer (IBC), as well as the immune modulation of the tumor microenvironment, and developing effective immunochemotherapies for TNBC/IBC using cutting-edge approaches. Our mission is to establish targeted therapies that will transform the lives of patients suffering from these devastating diseases.
The successful candidate will investigate the mechanisms underlying tumorigenesis and metastasis of TNBC/IBC, expose the immune modulation of the tumor microenvironment, and develop optimal immunochemotherapies using state-of-the-art technologies, including humanized/transgenic mouse modeling, immune profiling, RNA-sequencing, single-cell RNA sequencing, multiplexed immunofluorescence staining, and other in vitro and in vivo models. The candidate will have the opportunity to lead and co-lead projects, design experiments for generating high-dimensional data, work closely with collaborators and lab members, and mentor undergraduate/graduate/internship students. The candidate will also have the opportunity to collaborate with clinical experts, learning how to translate your bench work into life-saving clinical trials. Additionally, forge connections with leading pharmaceutical companies will accelerate the translation of promising therapeutic drugs from lab testing to patient treatment. Salary is based on NIH standards.
Eligibility Requirements:
· Recent M.D or Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university (or be in the final stages of completion).
· Have a proven background in molecular biology, cell biology, cancer biology, immunology, or related fields.
· Proven track record of productivity. Manuscripts under peer review evaluation and/or in press will be considered. Evidence for data presentation at scientific meetings will be taken into consideration.
· Highly motivated and self-driven individuals with strong research capabilities.
