A funded opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the laboratory of Dr. Maria I Givogri at the University of Illinois at Chicago is available starting January 2024. The successful candidate will be working on molecular and translational neuroscience in genetic diseases of the brain. The main focus of this position is to study molecular pathways involved in the embryonic and early postnatal neuropathology of Krabbe disease. The successful candidate will conduct multidisciplinary in vitro and in vivo research with a variety of approaches including biochemical assays, western blotting, immunocytochemistry, RT-PCR, Elisa, confocal microscopy, and neural cell culture. The candidate will have experience working with mice, stereotaxic techniques, small animal surgeries, cell culture, and molecular biology.
The candidate will hold a Ph.D. degree obtained within the last 1-2 years, a record of publications conformed to career stage, and experimental & scientific background in molecular and/or translational neuroscience and immunology. Applicants should have excellent communication skills and be able to take full responsibility for the design, execution, and direction of their assigned research project.
