Job Title: Postdoctoral positions in axon degeneration research in Columbus, USA
Job Number: 66619
Location: Columbus, US
The Beirowski lab at The Ohio State University, Wexner Medical Center, Department of Neurology & Neuroscience Research Institute is inviting applications for 2 postdoctoral positions in multidisciplinary neurodegeneration research. The National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded positions are immediately available and come with full fringe benefits (salary according to NIH guidelines and commensurate with experience, starting annual salary currently ~$55,000). Start date is flexible.
The Beirowski lab has a unique focus on axon-glia interactions and tackles the question as to how glial metabolism regulates axon integrity (e.g., Nature Neuroscience, PMID 32807950; Nature Neuroscience, PMID 25195104; PNAS, PMID 28484008). For more information visit the lab website: www.axonglia.com. Examples for current projects are in vivo and in vitro mechanistic studies on how metabolic perturbations in oligodendrocytes result in compromised axon integrity, and research on metabolic adaptations in Schwann cells/oligodendrocytes that support the survival of injured axons. Applicants should have demonstrated outstanding performance throughout their previous studies with their own high-quality publications. The successful candidate should hold a PhD in biomedical sciences, ideally with less than 3 years of prior post-doctoral experience, be highly motivated, and show good communication skills. Strong language and writing skills are important.
Interested candidates should send their inquiries or applications (cover letter explaining motivation and including a brief statement of research interests, CV, publication list, as well as names and contact details of 3 professional referees) directly to Dr. Beirowski at the provided email address.
