Job Title: Postdoctoral Position with Interest in Axon Regeneration/Neural Circuits

Job Number: 74729

Location: Dallas, US

Job Description

A postdoctoral training position is available in the laboratory of Supraja Varadarajan, in the Neuroscience Department at UT Southwestern Medical Center to study how neural circuits are
formed in health and disease.

We are focused on axon regeneration in the central nervous system and use the mouse visual system as our model. We particularly focus on understanding the mechanisms underlying
neural activity-induced repair and how these mechanisms can be co-opted to treat eye diseases and injuries. We use various molecular, genetic, viral, behavioral, and microscopy approaches
to investigate mechanisms that can promote visual repair.

Candidates must hold a recent Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience, Genetics, Cell and Molecular Biology, Biology, or a related field. Experience in molecular techniques, imaging, bioinformatics,
encouraged but not necessary.

Candidates will direct their own research project, including designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, developing new tools as needed, forming collaborations, and gaining
experience in writing grants and mentoring.
