Job Description
The Gordan lab at UCSF is looking for a talented and engaged scientist to lead a collaborative project studying oncogenic activation of Protein Kinase A (PKA).
The [Please click the Apply button for the link or email] is located in the dynamic environment of the Quantitative Biosciences Institute at UCSF Mission Bay and uses quantitative proteomics and functional genetics to enable cancer target discovery. We have worked extensively on PKA in the context of Fibrolamellar Carcinoma, a rare liver cancer of young adults. The candidate would participate in an NCI-funded collaboration between the Gordan lab, the [Please click the Apply button for the link or email] and [Please click the Apply button for the link or email], investigating the biochemical and growth mechanisms driven by oncogenic PKA. The Gordan lab’s focus in this project is the generation of PKA-driven models from iPS cells, their proteomic and functional profiling, and in vivo therapeutic assessment.
Applicants from a variety of backgrounds would be welcome, but experience with wet lab experimental science is required. Optimal candidates will be independent, motivated and value working in teams, with demonstrated success in project management and leadership. Candidates with experience in drug development, primary cell culture, or systems biology will be preferred. Successful candidates must have a PhD and/or MD in a related discipline.
