POSTDOCTORAL/RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN BACTERIOLOGY

The Yadavalli Lab at the Waksman Institute of Microbiology at Rutgers University, Piscataway, New Jersey is looking for a full-time Postdoctoral or Research Associate. This position is NIH-funded. Research in Yadavalli lab broadly investigates regulatory mechanisms governing bacterial gene expression and stress response. Specifically, we are focused on understanding the roles of small proteins and epitranscriptomic enzymes in stress response primarily in E. coli and related bacteria. QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. in microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, or a related discipline, as of start date
·       Strong expertise in bacteriology, molecular biology, biochemistry techniques, and RNA biology

·       Experience in high throughput sequencing methods (RNA-Seq, Ribosome-profiling, Tn-Seq), proteomics, and fluorescence microscopy is highly desirable

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS

·       Salary is commensurate with experience and follows NIH and Rutgers guidelines

Postdoc years 1 through 5 salary ranges from $56,963 to ~$63,000
A candidate with 5 or more years of postdoc experience will be considered a Research associate with a starting salary of $80,091
·       As a Rutgers/NJ State employee, you will receive medical, dental, and retirement benefits in addition to the salary

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Plan and conduct independent research

·       Contribute to the development of new research projects, methods, and technology

·       Collaborate with scientists within and outside of the team

·       Maintain accurate records of research findings and data analysis in a detailed up-to-date electronic laboratory notebook

·       Effectively communicate and present research findings at meetings and conferences

·       Contribute to the writing and preparation of scientific manuscripts and grant proposals

·       Help train and mentor undergraduate and/or graduate students
