Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellow – Moltke Lab

Job Number: 90181

Location: Seattle, US

Job Description

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jakob von Moltke in the University of Washington’s Immunology Department. The Moltke lab studies immune responses to parasitic worms (helminths) and allergens. These responses, collectively known as type 2 immunity, are triggered by everything from macroscopic live worms to microscopic inert particles to soluble enzymes. How and why do these all trigger the same immune response? To answer this question, we focus on the initiation and regulation of type 2 immunity. Using laboratory mice and models of type 2 immunity such as helminths and allergens, our goal is to provide insights that will lead to improved treatment and prevention of asthma, allergy, and other type 2 inflammatory conditions. Several funded projects are available as well as opportunities to explore new directions. See www.moltkelab.com for more info. Starting salary 79k + benefits.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who has a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology and/or immunology. This position requires PhD level training and a track record of producing and publishing high-quality original research. Experience in the use of mouse models, microscopy, and flow cytometry are beneficial, but willingness and ability to learn are more important. Controlled studies have demonstrated that diverse research groups are more creative and effective; applicants from underrepresented groups are therefore particularly encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant will join a collaborative and dynamic research environment and will be able to take advantage of the extremely collegial surroundings provided by the UW’s Department of Immunology and the thriving research environment in Seattle. Fellows can also apply for a fellowship from the Institute for Translational Immunology that provides training for both academic and industry career tracks ([Please click the Apply button for the link or email]). The Moltke Lab and UW Immunology are committed to improving diversity, equity, and inclusion in the sciences. Postdoctoral fellows will be expected to contribute to furthering these goals.

Applicants should send a cover letter and CV to Jakob at [Please click the Apply button for the link or email]. References will be requested as needed.
