Job Title: Postdoc Positions in Cognitive Control and Brain-computer Interface
Job Number: 65553
Location: Dallas, Texas, US
Job Description
Postdoctoral positions are available in the Zhongzheng Fu lab at Department of Neurological Surgery at UT Southwestern. We study the neural mechanisms of cognitive control using mathematical modeling and human neurophysiology.
We have discovered:
The neuronal correlates of the error-related negativity (ERN) (Fu et al., Neuron, 2019)
Neuron mechanisms by which performance monitoring generalizes between cognitive tasks (Fu et al., Science, 2022)
Computational framework for performance monitoring across non-human primates (Fu et al., Nature Reviews Neuroscience, 2023)
Ongoing research:Network activity underlying cognitive control using human single neuron recording
Neuronal mechanisms for metacognition in memory-based decisions
Artificial cognitive control
Ultimately, we aim to develop novel approaches to restore cognitive control in various psychiatric/neurological conditions and enhance cognitive control in healthy individuals.
Applicants who are intellectually curious and passionate about tackling challenging neuroscience problems using a combination of approaches (behavioral modelling, intracranial recordings, neuromodulation, EEG/MEG) are encouraged to apply. Postdoctoral scientist in the lab will conduct cutting-edge research in a protected, interactive, highly collaborative, and well-funded environment, with access to state-of-the-art facilities such as EEG/MEG, intracranial recordings in several patient populations, high-performance computing sources.
Qualifications for this position include Ph.D. or M.D. degree(s) in related fields (Neuroscience, computer science, electrical engineering, physics, etc.) Applicants who are proficient in Python (MATLAB or R) and with a strong background in statistics, machine learning, deep learning and signal processing are particularly encouraged to apply.
To apply, please provide:
1. A Cover Letter describing your interest in this position.
2. A CV listing your education, training background, publications, awards, and skill set.
3. *One to two Reference Letter(s), one of which should come from your current mentor(s). Letter(s) will be requested upon review of CV.
