Job Description

The Gur-Cohen Lab in the Division of Regenerative Medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine is seeking a Post-Doctoral Researcher interested in studying how stem cell interaction with their lymphatic vascular environment regulates stem cell identity and plasticity. The overall focus of the Gur-Cohen laboratory is to understand how epithelial stem cells coordinate tissue renewal with the ultimate goal to harness stem cell regenerative potential to develop new strategies for precise tissue repair. We apply core techniques in cell biology, microscopy, mouse genetics and biophysics to address fundamental questions in stem cell biology during normal development and cancer progression. Candidate’s responsibilities:

·       Independently design, perform and analyze experiments and procedures

·       Demonstrate ability to adapt methods according to project priorities.

·       Comfortable of handling and working with mice, primary human tissues and hazardous materials.

·       Be able to present results, accurately document experiments and writing of reports and manuscripts. 

·       Committed to work in a collaborative environment that values diversity, equity, creativity, and excellence.

Laboratory procedures typically include cellular and molecular biology techniques such as flow cytometry, cell sorting, real-time PCR, Western blotting, 3D culture assays, MassSpec and proteomics, high throughput sequencing (bulk and single cell; ATACseq), microscopy (tissue clearing for 3D imaging), intravital imaging, cloning and CRISPR/Cas gene editing, virus preparation and in-utero viral delivery, tissue culture, malignant and healthy primary human skin sample processing and skin xenograft models.
