Job Description
The Biodistribution Team is responsible for measuring the tropism and transduction efficiency of engineered capsids in a variety of tissues and is essential to engineering best-in-class AAV gene therapy vectors. In leading this functional team, you will be responsible for measuring the results of high-throughput library screens and leading the development and expansion of Dyno’s in vivo screening capabilities at scale.
As Team Lead, you will manage Research Associates and Scientists to measure the results of high-throughput library screens. You will lead workflow development toward increasing quality, throughput, and standardization. You will initiate and oversee technology development efforts to establish new capabilities into the platform that support capsid discovery in new tissue and cell types. Success in this role requires understanding and collaborating with all areas of the Dyno engineering platform.
Responsibilities
- Manage our tissue processing workflows to measure libraries of capsids as part of platform screening rounds
- Develop workflows that establish SOPs, quality control, and automation
- Identify areas for technological development and lead projects to implement new technologies
- Coordinate with the Data Science Team to evaluate and improve measurement quality
- Coordinate with Program Leads to design custom tissue processing solutions by organ or therapeutic area
- Manage daily activities of the team: planning, logistics, organization
- Support future growth of the team: mentorship, supervision, team-building, hiring
Required Skills
Basic qualifications
- PhD in biology, biochemistry, genetics, or a related field
- 5+ years hands-on wet lab experience
- Minimum 4 years post-PhD experience, industry experience preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in managing or supervising multiple scientists
- Strong foundation in molecular biology, gene expression
- Specific expertise in RNA purification, qPCR, RNA-seq, next-generation sequencing, working with mammalian tissues
- Experience developing procedures for the extraction of RNA and DNA from various mammalian tissues and scaling these procedures to high throughput workflows
- Experience developing new assays and implementing new technologies
Preferred qualifications
- Expertise in scRNA-seq technologies and histology
- Hands-on experience using AAV capsids for gene delivery
- Experience in generation and/or computational analysis of high-throughput data
- Experience working with non-human primate tissues
