There is an opening in Prof. Deblina Sarkar’s research group at MIT for a Postdoctoral Associate with experience in regeneration and wound healing. Background in studying the effect of electric field in regeneration and wound healing is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Employ the wireless nanoelectronic devices (that Prof. Sarkar’s group has developed) for regeneration and wound healing of peripheral nervous system, brain, cardiac tissue, in spinal cord injury and other organs through electric field in vivo in mouse models
  • Study different mechanisms such as angiogenesis, neurogenesis, effect on inflammation, electrical/Ca signalling, immune cells, stem cells, axon regeneration and electrotaxis etc
  • Write research grants

Qualifications

Required:

PhD in biology, bioengineering, neuroscience, materials science, electrical/electronics engineering or relevant field

Strong background in regeneration and wound healing in vivo in mouse models

Experience in studying related mechanisms

Experience in methods such as Western blot, PCR and analysis of cellular pathways

Expertise in in vivo animal models is required

Experience in cultured cells

Preferred Education and Experience:

Experience in study of electric field in wound healing and regeneration and in electrotaxis

Experience in immune engineering

Experience with stem cells

Experience with organoids

Experience in EMG and muscle force measurements

Experience in recording electrical/ionic signalling from cells

Experience with testing animal behavior
