Job Description
The Manager, Contracts and Site Budgets is responsible for overseeing the entire contract operations process within Clinical Contracts & Outsourcing (CC&O). This includes validating contract requests, drafting contracts, negotiating budgets, and advising team members and functional service providers. The role involves supporting internal partners in navigating contracts with healthcare providers and research institutions globally, focusing on various contract types like clinical trial agreements and consulting contracts. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, this position may also serve as a primary contact for specific internal stakeholder groups to ensure the ClinOps team delivers high-quality results.
Responsibilities
- Independently managing and supporting clinical studies, making decisions with minimal supervision, and serving as a subject matter expert when needed.
- Overseeing day-to-day study management and site start-up activities in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Accurately forecasting timelines and managing budgets and contracts to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Identifying and addressing potential issues proactively in a fast-paced environment.
- Contributing to project goals by planning and coordinating study assignments.
- Enhancing budget and contract processes in partnership with functional leads.
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and networking within the industry.
- Working with minimal direction, recommending priorities and resources, and exercising sound judgment in decision-making.
- Coaching and advising junior team members across various projects.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent experience (7+ years) in a related field.
- Background in pharmaceutical, biotech, academia, or Clinical Research Organizations (CROs).
- Experience in clinical study start-up and management.
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders without authority.
- In-depth knowledge of various clinical contract types (e.g., clinical trial agreements, consulting agreements).
- Experience in clinical budget development and negotiation (Fair Market Value).
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills, with effective interaction abilities.
- High motivation and ability to work under pressure, achieving results through collaboration.
- Business-level fluency in English; additional legal or compliance certifications are a plus.
- Experience in a global work environment and strong facilitation and presentation skills.
