Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Research, Laboratory Operations/Facilities will manage, coordinate, and maintain all laboratory activities for the Jupiter, FL site. He/she will provide superior organizational skills, and positive outgoing personal presence to ensure a safe, functional, well-organized, and vibrant workspace. *Title will be commensurate with experience.


  • Lead and drive lab operations in growing lab support services to ensure high quality and reliable support for our research team. This includes planning and executing laboratory infrastructure, lab equipment procurement and maintenance, sample storage, and shipping/receiving support.
  • Maintain an inventory of all proprietary and commercial compounds.
  • Receive, register, and tag all new equipment and coordinate with finance on asset/inventory tracking information
  • Maintain shipment tracker to ensure materials are shipped under contract for project tracking and documentation
  • Works closely with functional leaders to develop and implement seating and space utilization plans / strategies for additional laboratory build out
  • Oversee office operations in developing office management strategies, including general cleaning, food, drink and office supply, desk management, and receptionist services, as well as the badging, and security systems
  • Responsible for proper sorting and labeling of biohazardous and chemical waste
  • Organizes onsite freezer storage, manages freezer alarms, and alarm response
  • Maintain and prepare common stock levels of media, buffer, and antibiotics along with common laboratory stock items and office supplies
  • Coordinate and prepare lab space allocations of benches, cold storage and general storage and order/stock “starter” supplies for new employee and equipment
  • Perform weekly maintenance on tissue culture water baths to include decon and replacement of water
  • Responsible for daily lab glass wash and autoclaving as well as oversight for annual pipette and balance/scale calibrations and service
  • Accountable for lab recycling and weekly lab cleaning common areas (weigh stations, general lab area cleaning)
  • Label all waste bags and containers for use in laboratory
  • File and log all waste manifest and permit
  • Coordinate with EHS for disposal of all e-waste
  • Prepare and communicate any shutdowns for holidays, office/lab shutdowns due to weather, etc.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or related field.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience working in a laboratory environment; preferably in the biopharmaceutical industry
  • Familiarity with standard lab instrumentation, computers, and software
  • Able to organize own work to meet project task deadlines; possesses basic team effectiveness skills & peer-influencing skills required to work in a matrix environment.
  • Able to work effectively as both a team member and as an independent contributor.
  • Enjoys learning new technology, proficiency in the use of MS Office
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
