LAB RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Position Highlights:

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Research Associate to join our Metabolism and Immunology Centered Laboratory at Department of Urology, Indiana University School of Medicine. The El-Kenawi laboratory at The Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center blends state of art metabolomics with more traditional molecular oncology techniques to understand mechanism of immune suppression in prostate cancer. Currently, a focus of the laboratory is to investigate roles of amino acids and cholesterol in modulating cancer cell- macrophage interactions. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of metabolic processes in prostate cancer and their implications for cancer progression and therapeutic interventions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, clinicians and contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of cancer metabolism.

Responsibilities

·        Conduct experiments involving cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and metabolic assays to investigate metabolic alterations in cancer cells.

·        Execute experiments to analyze the impact of specific metabolic pathways on cancer cell growth, survival, and drug sensitivity.

·        Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data, and contribute to the preparation of research reports, publications, and presentations.

·        Collaborate with other team members to share insights, troubleshoot experimental challenges, and integrate findings into the broader research objectives.

·        Stay current with relevant scientific literature, attend seminars, and participate in discussions to foster a dynamic and intellectually stimulating research environment.

·        Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment, ordering supplies, and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety protocols.

·        Contribute to the training and supervision of junior lab members, such as technicians, students, and interns.

Credentials and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in biology or related field
Minimum 1 year of hands-on research experience is required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
