Job Description

We are looking for a temporary Laboratory Assistant to help in our NC lab.


  • Receive laboratory samples such as blood, accurately identify, and label them.
  • Unbox and direct specimens to their designated areas.
  • Enter patient data promptly and accurately into both the Laboratory Management System (LIMS) and Client Relationship Management System (CRM) according to established procedures.
  • Generate notifications for Provider Relations regarding any discrepancies found in clinical samples within the CRM.
  • Collaborate closely with Laboratory Operations and Provider Relations teams to ensure efficient sample processing.
  • Maintain sample integrity through proper storage and timely processing.
  • Promptly report any issues or deviations to a supervisor.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner.
  • Participate in regular Laboratory compliance and quality plans to fulfill regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to CLIA, CAP, HIPAA, OSHA, and other relevant safety guidelines.
  • Keep the work environment well-organized and clean.
  • Follow company policies and practices outlined in all company resources, including safety and compliance guidelines.

Required Skills

  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is necessary. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree, or a comparable blend of education, training, and experience, is desirable.
  • Preferably, 6 months of relevant laboratory experience or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and/or Client Relationship Management (CRM) is advantageous.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and can effectively collaborate with all members of the team.
  • Demonstrates consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor when interacting with others.
  • Exhibits excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
  • Comfortable working with biological specimens.
  • Proficient in English with exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capable of anticipating and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Skilled in using computer applications and software, including MS Office.
  • Capable of accurately and safely performing a wide range of tasks and multitasking effectively.
  • Proficient in computer entry and/or typing.
  • Familiar with legal and ethical considerations regarding patient confidentiality, such as HIPAA.
  • Can manage a high volume of work and repetitive tasks accurately, even under stress and time constraints.
  • Can sit and/or stand for extended periods, up to 4 hours at a time.
  • Able to lift objects weighing up to 20 lbs.
