Job Description

We are looking for an Executive Director to lead Scientific and Medical Writing & Scientific Information for the Research and Translational Medicine (R&TM) team. This leadership role focuses on managing the creation and dissemination of high-quality scientific and medical content across various departments, ensuring clear and accurate communication of complex information. The position involves overseeing internal and external communications related to translational research, clinical biomarkers, regulatory and medical writing, medical affairs, business development, legal/IP, and the broader scientific community, while ensuring compliance with scientific and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy: * Drive the strategic planning and execution of scientific and medical writing activities within the R&TM department, ensuring alignment with research and translational medicine objectives, including areas like research, nonclinical pharmacology, and biomarker discovery and development. * Provide leadership as the primary point of contact for the R&TM team, collaborating with internal experts and other teams responsible for scientific and medical documentation, including reports, regulatory submissions, manuscripts, corporate presentations, and patent updates. * Develop and implement strategies to enhance the quality and efficiency of scientific communication across the organization, fostering a culture of excellence in scientific and medical writing.Scientific and Medical Writing: * Oversee the preparation and review of scientific and medical documents for the R&TM department, including journal publications, regulatory submissions, clinical trial documents, corporate communications, and patent filings. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, medical affairs, clinical, regulatory, business development, and legal teams, to ensure that scientific and medical information is aligned and effectively communicated. * Identify opportunities for developing scientific content, managing the creation of scientific narratives, abstracts, and presentations for conferences and meetings.Scientific Information Management: * Work with IT and data management teams to establish databases and implement tools that improve the accessibility and use of scientific information. * Lead the management of scientific and translational medicine data for the R&TM team, ensuring all information is accurately documented and easily accessible. * Develop and maintain procedures for managing scientific information, ensuring compliance with best practices and regulatory standards. * Oversee the communication of scientific and medical information to internal teams, external partners, and the broader scientific community.Quality Assurance and Compliance: * Ensure that all scientific and medical documents meet high standards for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with relevant guidelines. * Implement quality control measures to maintain the integrity of scientific and medical documents. * Lead initiatives to improve writing processes, incorporating stakeholder feedback and staying updated on industry trends and regulatory changes. Cross-Functional Collaboration: * Work closely with teams in translational research, clinical development, medical affairs, regulatory writing, business development, and legal/IP to ensure scientific and medical information is integrated into documents produced by other departments. * Facilitate communication between scientific/medical writing teams and other departments, ensuring that content supports organizational goals.

Required Skills

Qualifications:   * Advanced degree in a relevant field such as Immunology, Molecular Biology, Medicine, or a related discipline; a PhD, MD, or equivalent is preferred. * At least 12 years of experience in scientific or medical writing, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role managing writing and information teams. * Extensive background in scientific and medical writing, data documentation, and publication planning within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. * Experience in Immunology & Inflammation is required, with additional expertise in dermatology, respiratory immunology, and monoclonal antibody therapeutics being highly desirable. * Proven ability to manage complex writing projects and lead cross-functional teams effectively. * Outstanding writing, editing, and communication skills, with keen attention to detail and the ability to tailor content for scientific, medical, business, and legal/IP audiences.Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in managing scientific information systems and databases integrated with other departments. * Awareness of current trends in scientific communication and data management technologies. * Experience with scientific publishing and managing relationships with journals and publishers.What We Offer: * The opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced setting where you can shape the culture, take on varied responsibilities, and develop new skills. * A competitive compensation and benefits package, including base salary, performance bonuses, equity options, and comprehensive health and retirement benefits. * Flexible paid time off. * Company-wide breaks twice a year to recharge. * A strong focus on your professional growth, with access to tools and resources for career development. * Regular in-person team meetings to promote connection and problem-solving. The expected salary range for this role is $250,000 – $275,000 per year, with the final offer depending on factors such as experience, education, and location.
