Job Description

Contractor, Director of Clinical Site Budgets and Contracts, responsible for developing and optimizing site budget and contract strategies, processes, and tools. Reports to the Executive Director, Clinical Contracts and Outsourcing. This 6-month contract role is full-time (40 hours/week).

Responsibilities

  • Leads development, improvement, and implementation of clinical site budget and contract processes, including creating process documents and tools.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve contract cycle times to support clinical development.
  • Partners to shape site budget and contract sourcing strategies (in-source vs outsource), including vendor performance evaluation based on quality, cost, and timelines.
  • Develops and implements analytics and metrics to enhance decision-making, measure value, and apply a strategic approach to the portfolio using KPIs.
  • Applies critical thinking and strategic vision to support business growth by evaluating new or improved processes within the Site Budgets and Contracts function.
  • Continuously integrates industry best practices, external benchmarks, and data to drive process improvements aligned with overall strategy.
  • Leads or supports general and ad-hoc projects and departmental activities as needed.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to team members within the department.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees (MBA, MS) preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Over 10 years of experience in pharmaceuticals, biotech, academia, or CROs, with a strong background in clinical operations and people management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the drug development process, including global Phase 1-4 clinical trials.
  • Expertise in clinical site budget and contract processes, site budget strategies, and industry models.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical operations and study start-up procedures.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Skilled at collaborating with cross-functional teams and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capable of working across all levels within an organization and with external service providers.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail; adept at managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data to support decision-making.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to manage time-sensitive matters while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Exhibits professionalism, punctuality, and commitment to delivering results with a service-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrates sound business judgment and an independent, proactive work style.
