Job Description

The Director of Business Development is responsible for driving revenue growth and building strategic partnerships within the industry. This role involves identifying and managing relationships with new and potential clients.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve and surpass sales targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Create and implement a business development strategy to support organizational growth goals.
  • Identify and prioritize target markets and potential clients based on company strengths.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers in relevant sectors.
  • Engage new clients by understanding their needs and offering customized services.
  • Manage the preparation of proposals, contracts, and presentations for potential clients.
  • Negotiate budgets and project scopes to ensure alignment with client needs and company capabilities.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive factors.
  • Provide insights on industry trends and client needs to guide strategy and service development.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure effective project delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Mentor team members involved in the sales process and promote a culture of excellence.
  • Report on business development activities, pipeline status, and revenue forecasts.
  • Represent the company at industry events to enhance visibility and generate leads.
  • Develop and deliver presentations showcasing company expertise and services.
  • Track business development activities in CRM or other tools to monitor progress.
  • Ensure smooth handoff of new projects by sharing client expectations with relevant teams.

Required Skills

  • Strong skills in communication, presentation, and negotiation.
  • Demonstrated success in sales or business development, particularly in related sectors.
  • Proficient with software tools and applications, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Flexibility to travel on short notice and manage travel arrangements efficiently.
  • Understanding of clinical processes in relevant settings.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, ideally in Business, Marketing, or a related field within the pharmaceutical or clinical research sectors.
  • Over 5 years of experience in sales and business development.
  • Extensive knowledge of the clinical research industry.
  • Experience in selling services related to clinical research.
