Within CSHL, our AI Research Group is at the forefront of pioneering research in artificial intelligence applied to neuroscience. We are seeking a talented Computational Science developer to join our dynamic team and contribute to cutting-edge projects that push the boundaries of neuroAI research.
 
 As a Computational Science Developer, within the AI Research Group, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development, maintenance, and optimization of software tools essential for our scientific endeavors. You will collaborate closely with our multidisciplinary team of scientists and researchers to implement code for ongoing projects and ensure the seamless operation of computational infrastructure.

Position Responsibilities
– Write, test, and debug code for various projects within the AI Research Group.
 – Maintain and enhance existing codebases for published tools and software libraries.
 – Assist in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of compute clusters with a focus on GPU infrastructure.
 – Manage job scheduling and resource allocation on compute clusters using tools such as Slurm and Docker.
 – Contribute to the development and training of machine learning models using PyTorch on GPU platforms.
 – Collaborate with team members to address technical challenges and optimize software performance.
 – Actively participate in scientific projects, providing software engineering expertise and support as needed.
 – Engage in continuous learning and stay updated on advancements in computational neuroscience and AI research.

Position Requirements
– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
 – Proficiency in Python programming and experience with version control systems, particularly GitHub.
 – Familiarity with PyTorch and GPU-accelerated machine learning model training.
 – Prior experience with compute cluster setup, maintenance, and job scheduling (e.g., Slurm, Docker) is preferred.
 – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
 – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
 – Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies in computational neuroscience and AI research.

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
