If so, we invite you to apply for the position of Biological Light Microscopy Technologist here at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. As a key member of our Microscopy Shared Resource team, you will play a pivotal role in enabling cutting-edge research by providing training, technical support, and expertise to scientists utilizing our state-of-the-art microscopy facilities.

 

Position Responsibilities 

Deliver comprehensive training and technical support to scientists utilizing the Microscopy Shared Resource for their research projects.
Collaborate closely with researchers to understand their imaging project requirements and provide expert advice on microscopy techniques, experimental design, and image analysis solutions.
Conduct hands-on training sessions for users, covering routine and advanced microscopy systems, as well as image analysis tools.
Assist in the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of microscopy equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Employ your proficiency in confocal and widefield fluorescence microscopy, along with advanced multi-label imaging approaches, to support users in designing innovative experiments.
Perform sample preparation and imaging, and contribute to data interpretation and analysis.
Utilize your knowledge of image analysis software packages, both open-source and commercial, to aid researchers in extracting meaningful insights from their microscopy data.
Develop expertise in Shared Resource management, contributing to the efficient operation and coordination of the facility’s resources.
 

Position Requirements

Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, biophysics, or related discipline using light microscopy.  
Experience: One to three years of experience working in a Microscopy Shared Resource is preferred.
Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work with multiple users in a supporting role, and ability to work independently and proactively with limited supervision are essential.
