Under the Associate Director of Basic and Translational Research of the CSTL, the Senior Research Investigator will be tasked with developing computational workflows, analyzing ‘omics based datasets, working to identify promising candidates for further study, and working with clinicans/other researchers to cultivate collaboration for other hyperinflammatory disorders. In addition, the Senior Research Investigator will assist the Associate Director with research projects that involve cutting-edge genomics’ technologies. The position offers opportunities for professional growth and scientific experiences on a collaborative and hardworking team. The individual will be expected to participate in lab meetings, discussions, and assist with experiments of other lab members should the situation call for it. The applicant must be well organized and is expected to maintain an electronic notebook of analyses performed. Additional responsibilities will include organizing/implementing R/python/bash scripting pipelines for clinical/omics data.             

Qualified candidates will have expertise in research planning, computational analyses, and a background in biology with a general interest in immunology and inflammatory disorders. Duties:

  • Prepare experimental plans and perform computational analysis to generate interpretable data that can lead to biological insights.
  • Support other laboratory personnel, graduate students, fellows, and scientific collaborators with sample isolation, processing, extractions, and experimentation
  • Perform computer-based analyses of next generation sequencing (NGS) data. This will require knowledge of computational pipelines and exploration of various software based tools to draw conclusions from data.
  • Track all workflows systematically in a lab notebook
  • Help to prepare data for interpretation, presentation, and manuscript writing/development for peer-reviewed publication
     

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Philosophy, and 5 to 7 years of post-doctoral experience required.
  • Working knowledge of a programming language (R, python, preferred).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational abilities
  • Experience in a linux based high performance computing environment (compute cluster, AWS cloud, etc.) preferred
  • Experience with immunology or hematology research preferred
  • Experience with handling electronic health record (EHR) and other clinical information a plus
  • Ability to work independently and apply critical thinking and sound judgment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work well with and communicate effectively with team members
