The Lek lab is located in the Department of Genetics at Yale University. Our lab studies all aspects associated with rare disease genetics: (1) Novel gene discovery in large cohorts (2) Methods development in the analysis of genomic data (3) Studying genetic disease mechanisms (4) Design and translation of genetic therapies. We are a young and growing lab seeking candidates that are self-motivated, independent, fast learning with a team first attitude.

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for leading projects involving gene editing in muscle disease genes in patient cells and relevant mouse models. This will include designing genetic correction and delivery strategies, involving a range of cell, molecular biology and muscle tissue histology approaches. You will be required to communicate results to collaborators and manage correspondence. Lastly, mentorship of junior scientists and contribution to team projects is expected.

Qualifications
M.D/Ph.D. in Genetics, muscle biology or related discipline.
Extensive experience in molecular biology and cell culture techniques is essential (>4 years).
Experience in designing and conducting gene editing projects (> 3 years).
Experience in genomic data processing, analysis and variant interpretation in rare disease cohorts (>4 years).
Animal handling experience including tissue harvesting (> 3 years).
Experience in contributing data to pre-clinical studies including writing sections in pre-IND and IND (>2 years).
Track record of directly mentoring students in successful research projects (>2 years).
Strong publication record and conference presentation experience.
Track record with contributing to successful grants.
Experience as a reviewer for respected scientific/medical journals (>2 years).
Experience as a practicing physician in clinics is highly desired.
