Job Description

We are seeking a pharmacology leader for our small molecule drug discovery programs. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of scientists and assume a leading role in providing in vivo scientific and technical expertise for the company. This individual will work closely with the chemistry, drug discovery, biology, and other functions to support preclinical product characterization and transitions to the clinic. He/she will be an important member of the biology group leadership team to build out the scientific and operational strategy of the biological research.


  • Develop and implement in vivo pharmacology corporate strategy
  • Design, oversee, and interpret in vivo PK and pharmacology studies at our CROs in support of discovery and IND-enabling stage programs
  • Work closely with in-house cross-functional drug discovery teams, including biology, chemistry, DMPK, etc to identify drug development candidates and support IND filings
  • Serve as key member of project teams, with potential for leadership role depending on experience
  • Lead interactions with key opinion leaders and the external research community
  • Communicate scientific progress to diverse teams, collaborators, and leadership
  • Represent the company at external scientific meetings
  • Supervise and mentor career development of scientists

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in Biology, Translational Science, Oncology, or related field
  • 8-10 years of industry experience with hands-on experience in in vivo pharmacology models, including CDX and PDX.
  • Must have a background in murine handling, dosing (PO, IV, IP, SC), sample collection, and tissue harvesting in order to provide advice on best practices and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with molecular biology techniques, biochemistry, tissue processing, IHC and microscopy
  • Experience integrating pre-clinical pharmacology data at various stages of small molecule drug discovery
  • Familiar with oncogenic pathways, targeted and immunotherapies
  • Must be familiar with mechanism-of-action studies, including analysis of gene expression, pathway expression, protein levels, and or/or target activity levels, to validate and advance targets
  • Leadership skills and a desire to potentially mentor early-career scientists
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across functions
  • Extensive hands-on experience in managing CROs is required
  • Hands-on mentality and the ability to focus on details in moving projects forward
  • Ability to think critically and creatively in a fast-paced research environment
  • Willingness to work in an innovative and collaborative environment pursuing high risk-high reward science
  • Adaptability, commitment to scientific excellence, and team member mentality is a must
