Job Description

The Role: Goldfinch Bio seeks a hands-on Assistant Corporate Controller to support the Vice President, Finance and Corporate Controller in overseeing the Company’s finance and accounting operations, including general ledger, financial reporting, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, revenue recognition, internal controls and compliance and the external audit process.  The position is critical to help drive financial strategy and execution to support the Company’s growth. The Assistant Controller will also help to grow and develop the Finance department and will be an effective business partner for operating managers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the monthly and quarterly accounting close process and continuously improve processes to scale with the organization
  • Document technical accounting assessments and conclusions in memos for management and auditors
  • Provide support to the VP, Finance and Corporate Controller in the preparation of board of director and audit committee packages
  • Analyze and provide commentary on the balance sheet and income statement variances
  • Prepare monthly and ad-hoc reporting for senior management
  • Prepare and review reconciliations as part of the close process
  • Prepare financial statements including timely and accurate SEC filings (when applicable)
  • Serve as primary point of contact for external auditors and assist with the preparation of work papers in advance of audits
  • Review, recommend, and implement best practices regarding accounting policies and procedures
  • Identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the day to day operations as well as the close process, and implementation of such recommendations
  • Assist with the annual budget and reforecasting processes, including operational and capital planning
  • Perform other related duties and ad hoc projects as required by position
  • Build relationships cross-functionally to foster collaboration both inside and outside of the Finance & Accounting teams
  • Lead the implementation and improvement of ERP and other financial systems
  • Establish and maintain strong business partnerships with key counterparts including HR, IT, and functional business owners

Required Skills

  • BA/BS in Accounting, CPA and minimum of 6+ years of accounting and financial management
  • Experience in a public company environment a plus
  • Proficiency with US GAAP
  • Collaborative business partner adept in building cross-functional relationships to drive business results
  • Exhibit the highest degree of integrity and ethics
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to quickly establish credibility
  • Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution-oriented
