Job Description
Seeking an experienced Assistant Controller with a strong sense of ownership and dedication to deadlines. This role involves managing key accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting growth through efficient processes. Responsibilities include general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, payroll, monthly reporting, and year-end audits. The ideal candidate has deep accounting knowledge, leadership experience, and a track record of managing teams. Proficiency in applying accounting policies and optimizing processes with technology is essential.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain accurate financial records.
- Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Manage vendor relations, payment processing, and expense workflows.
- Supervise payroll operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
- Mentor and guide a team of accounting professionals.
- Drive efficiency through technology enhancements and support system implementations.
- Facilitate audits and tax filings while ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Maintain SOX compliance and strengthen internal financial processes.
- Adhere to regulations and company policies while maintaining required training.
- Take on additional responsibilities with a proactive approach.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced education and CPA preferred.
- At least 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a managerial role.
- Strongly prefer experience in public companies and system implementation.
- Familiarity with biotech, pharmaceutical, or medical device industries is a plus.
- Knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, with experience in MS D365 and ADP Workforce Now preferred.
- Strong financial and analytical skills.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Proven leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, organization, and attention to detail.
- Effective collaborator and team player in small, dynamic environments.
